OUR ARTISTS
Room 13 Xtreme studio artists in residence are Denise Poote and Heidi Steller. They are experienced artists, with a strong background in Art and Design/Crafts/teaching and theatre design.
Past projects have included festivals, carnivals/celebratory arts, workshops across the South West, Inset Days, working with councils, schools, colleges, hospitals and environmental organisations.......
Room 13 Xtreme studio offers pupils from KS2 and above the opportunity to partake in a ground-breaking model of art education in schools.
Pupils work with a professional artist in the studio. The philosophy of this participatory arts project is that the young people work on their own ideas and designs with the artist working as a facilitator rather than delivering one project for all... This allows personal development and mentors those students who have a strong desire to take their own ideas, initiatives and art and design projects forward for exhibitions/portfolio production etc...
The Xtreme process encourages students to discuss, present their work and gain confidence, the drive to create quality artworks and to nurture their self belief with the idea to apply for FE and HE education courses.
